For something different - if you love dogs and short fiction, the deadline is approaching for the annual
AKC Dog Fiction Writing Contest. (No, no zombies likely as these are usually family-oriented, "heartwarming" type stories.)
The story, up to 2,000 words, must feature a purebred or mixed breed dog. (Check the American Kennel Club -
AKC site for various breeds you can use.)
Stories have to be - yes, snail-mailed - and postmarked by Jan. 31.
